On Tuesday, January 23, 2018, Vizcaya Museum and Gardens hosted a day-long, Knight-funded, 3D printing and technology workshop. Dr. Mark Osterman, Vizcaya’s Adult Learning and Engagement Manager, and Jeff Guin, Vizcaya’s Director of Technology and Digital Initiatives, Mark Marine, Director of FIU by Design, and John Stuart, Director of the CARTA Innovation Lab, organized the workshop to explore the future of 3D printing in the museum context. Participants included a diverse range of faculty members and students from FIU’s College of Communication, Architecture + The Arts and faculty and staff members from the University of Miami School of Architecture, University of Florida’s Historic Preservation Program, Yale University, Information Technology Services [Randall Rode] and the partner firm, Daruma Tech.
