Retired | VP of Programs for Scripps Howard Foundation

Sue Porter was the former vice president of programs for the Scripps Howard Foundation, the philanthropic arm of The E.W. Scripps Company, a 15-year old media company with television stations in 19 markets, daily newspapers in 14 markets, and an expanding list of digital strategies for multiple platforms, in addition to sponsorship of the National Spelling Bee. Sue joined the company 37 years ago as a reporter at The Cincinnati Post, became an editor, and then moved to the company’s corporate communications and investor relations staff.

Since 2005, she has managed and developed programs that further the Scripps Howard’s Foundation’s mission to support excellence in journalism and support communities where Scripps does business. Sue is past president of the Society of Professional Journalists’ foundation, Sigma Delta Chi, and continues to serve on its board of directors. She also serves on journalism advisory boards for Ohio University, Iowa State University and the University of Cincinnati.
