anne-vasquezAnne Vasquez is the Managing Editor at the South Florida Sun Sentinel, the 2013 winner of the Pulitzer Prize Gold Medal for Public Service.

The newsroom’s No. 2 editor since 2011, Vasquez oversees editors, reporters and photographers who create content around-the-clock for print, digital and mobile audiences. She works across marketing, advertising and circulation divisions to grow audience and reinvent a newsroom for the 21st Century.

Born and raised in Miami to Cuban immigrants, Vasquez graduated with a degree in journalism from Florida International University in 1996. She began her career at The Miami Herald before moving to Northern California, where she worked as a reporter and editor at the San Jose Mercury News during the dot-com bubble and bust.

Vasquez returned to South Florida in 2006 to join the Sun Sentinel, where as business editor she revamped the Money section in print and online before being named deputy managing editor/digital and tasked with overseeing SunSentinel.com. During that time, Vasquez also served as a weekly on-air contributor to the South Florida Live! Morning Show on WSFL.

Vasquez has served on the board of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and is an active member of Leadership Broward. Vasquez lives in Broward County with her husband, Daniel Vasquez, a member of the Sun Sentinel’s Editorial Board, and their two children, Danny and Veronica.
