LFP - Carlos Suarez (Photo)Carlos Suarez joined Local 10 News in March 2012 after spending two years at WINK, the CBS affiliate in Fort Myers, Florida.

He was born and raised in South Florida and graduated from Florida International University with a degree in Political Science.

Carlos received an Emmy nomination and was honored with an Associated Press Award for his coverage of a deadly Christmas Eve mall shooting in 2011.

During his time at WINK, Carlos covered Charlotte County before taking on the roll of political reporter. He traveled the state covering the Republican candidates and every GOP primary debate in Florida. Carlos also hit the road with the Mitt Romney campaign during the Florida primary.

He also covered the campaigns of Senator Marco Rubio and Governor Rick Scott. Senator Rubio was Carlos’ college professor his senior year at FIU.

Carlos began his news career in Miami. He had an internship at Univision while in high school and was an Associate Producer for the FOX affiliate while in college.

When he is not reporting, you can find Carlos reading a good book and watching awful reality television. He’s also the proud father of “Lily,” his 2-year-old Miniature Schnauzer.
