Leyanis Diaz is a Cuban born, Miami-based blogger. A first generation college student, Leyanis graduated from Florida International University (FIU) Magna Cum Laude with a bachelors degree in Communications December of 2015. During her time at FIU, Leyanis was a Peer Advisor, became a sister of Phi Mu Fraternity and was Miss Black and Gold 2015 for the Tau Delta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. She interned for Univision Communications Inc., CNN en Español and Radio Caracol and was involved with Alternative Breaks, SPC-BBC, the Embrace Girls Foundation, and the Honors College, traveling to Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand last summer to teach English. After graduation, Leyanis started working for Florida National University as their Social Media and Marketing Representative and recently was selected as Miss Black Florida USA for 2016-2017, getting to represent Florida at next year’s Miss Black USA pageant.
