Even as designers, we too often place more value on the logical mind rather than the intuitive under-utilizing the brain’s tremendous capabilities of perception, intuition, imagination, and creativity.  Drawing is a skill which uncovers those hidden capabilities through activating the intuitive mind. Developing skills in drawing by teaching students how to use their intuitive mind is pivotal to developing creative outputs in the design process.

The aim of the exhibition is to showcase student work from the 6 week summer elective drawing course titled “Visual Notations.” The course focuses on drawing as a learned skill as discovered in Betty Edwards “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain.” Through learning to use their intuitive mind or “learning to see”, students become able to draw.

With great honor and excitement, the exhibition will also be showcasing a piece by a recent FIU graduate, Anielka Arguello.  Anielka graduated in 2017 with a Masters in Landscape Architecture and Masters in Architecture and completed the Visual Notations Course in the Summer of  2017.
