Welcome to the School of Music at Florida International University!
For more than twenty years, the FIU School of Music has educated hundreds of performers, scholars, and music educators, many of whom are now leaders in their respective fields across the state of Florida and around the world.
The nearly 250 Music students at FIU benefit from working in a conservatory-style atmosphere housed in a large public university ranked by Carnegie as a Research 1 institution. The 50 full and part-time faculty at the FIU School of Music include internationally celebrated performers and composers, scholars, and teachers, who are dedicated to inspiring and mentoring the next generation of music leaders.
Housed in the Wertheim Performing Arts Center, the FIU School of Music attracts top musicians and scholars every year to present masterclasses and guest lectures, or to perform side by side with our students and faculty artists. The breadth of performance opportunities offered at FIU include orchestral, band, choral, jazz, large and small chamber ensembles, fully-staged operas, and the latest in cutting-edge new music.
Each year, our School hosts an annual music festival that features major international artists and ensembles performing in the state-of-the-art Concert Hall. I invite you to browse our events calendar to see the wide variety of musical choices we offer the community. I also invite any prospective students eager to launch a strong start to their musical career to visit this page where they can find out more about the variety of programs we offer.
All new students and staff and faculty are encouraged to attend the 2017 Convocation held on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 3:30pm in our Wertheim Concert Hall. Refreshments will also be served. Please visit us and join the celebration!
