The FIU Concert Choir will participate in their first performance tour to Havana, Cuba during March 4 – 10, 2017.

During their tour, they will perform in historical locations like La Basilica Menor de San Fransisco de Asis, La Catedral de San Cristobal, and El Teatro Nacional de Cuba to perform with renowned artists, composers, and the Orquesta Sinfonica Nacional de Cuba. The choir will also be visiting El Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana for a day of music education.

The Concert Choir is Florida International University’s premiere choral ensemble. The FIU Concert Choir has performed at state, regional, and national music conferences and is recorded on the Capstone and CRI labels. Under the direction of Dr. Kathryn Kelly Longo, the FIU choral sound is described as “full voiced and well-balanced.” The singers bring a unique and multicultural voice to traditional classical choral music from the Renaissance through the 21st century. The FIU choral program is committed to performing varied repertoire from around the world, expanding the choral canon to represent the ever-changing voice of American music.

This tour is facilitated by the Department of Study Abroad and is also the FIU’s School of Music first study abroad program.
