World Studio Scholarship Architecture Scholarship awarded to students in only one of the following disciplines: Animation, Architecture, Cartooning, Crafts, Environmental graphics, Film/theater design, Film/Video, Fine arts, Furniture design, Graphic design, Illustration, Industrial/product design, Interior design, Landscape architecture, New media, Photography, Surface/Textile design, and Urban planning. The IFDA Student Member Scholarship is offered to current IFDA student members who have completed 4 courses in interior design or related field and are in good standing. Vercille Voss Graduate Student Member Scholarship (Grads) Interior design or related field Vercille Voss Graduate Student Member Scholarship was established by the Illinois Chapter in memory of Vercille Voss, longtime chapter member and mentor to new members and students. This scholarship is available to IFDA Graduate Student Members enrolled in a graduate degree program in interior design or related field. Steven G. King Play Environments Scholarship Landscape Architecture Eligible applicants include landscape architecture students with a demonstrated interest and aptitude in the design of play environments who are enrolled in graduate or the final two years of undergraduate study in LAAB accredited schools. The Dangermond Fellowship (Graduates)   Landscape Architecture Award: Up to three (3) $10,000 fellowships awarded each year to graduate students in the United States. Recipients are also awarded ESRI software, technical training access, and travel costs to conferences. Individual applicants are required to be graduate students studying landscape architecture. ASLA Council of Fellows Scholarship   Landscape Architecture This scholarship was established by the ASLA Council of Fellows in 2004 to 1) aid promising students who would not otherwise have an opportunity to continue a professional degree program due to unmet financial need, 2) increase the interest and participation of economically disadvantaged and under-represented populations in the study of landscape architecture, and 3) enrich the profession of landscape architecture through a more diverse population. The Rome Prize Fellowship in Landscape Architecture   Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Design, Historic Preservation and Conservation, Literature, Musical Composition Each year, through a national competition, the Rome Prize is awarded to 15 emerging artists (working in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Design, Historic Preservation and Conservation, Literature, Musical Composition, or Visual Arts) and 15 scholars (working in Ancient, Medieval, Renaissance and early Modern, or Modern Italian Studies). Rome Prize winners receive room and board and a study or studio. Six- and 11-month fellowships are awarded, carrying stipends of $10,500 and $21,000, respectively.   http://www.aarome.org
THE ASCAP FOUNDATION CHARLOTTE V. BERGEN SCHOLARSHIP   Music Awarded to the top ASCAP Foundation Morton Gould Young Composer age 18 or under, this scholarship is made possible by The Frank & Lydia Bergen Foundation and is named in memory their daughter, Charlotte, a lover of classical music. The American Berlin Opera Foundation, Inc. (recent grads)   Music Since its inception in 1996, the American Berlin Opera Foundation has held an annual scholarship competition for American singers to study at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in Germany. Winners receive a stipend in the amount of $15,000 and a round-trip flight to Berlin, Germany. During the year, the students are offered roles in Deutsche Oper productions for which they receive an honorarium. The scholarship recipient will travel to Berlin to start his or her training with the Deutsche Oper in August. The term of residence is the Deutsche Oper Berlin's season: approximately 10 months, ending in June. Arleen Auger Memorial Fund   Music The AAMF awards study grants and scholarships to qualified applicants upon successful completion of a comprehensive review process supervised by our board of directors and musical advisors. Scholarship amounts range from $500 to $2,500. ELIGIBILITY: The Arleen Auger Memorial Fund Scholarship is open to pre-professional singers under the age of 30 who are in the process of vocal study and demonstrate financial need. Asian Cultural Council   Music The Asian Cultural Council supports cultural exchange between Asia and the United States in the performing and visual arts, primarily by providing individual fellowship grants to artists, scholars, students, and specialists from Asia for study, research, travel and creative work in the United States. ELIGIBILITY: Asian individuals in the visual and performing arts seeking grant assistance to conduct research, study, receive specialized training, undertake observation tours, or pursue creative activity in the United States are eligible to apply for fellowship support from the Council. http://www.asianculturalcouncil.org  
R. L. GILLETTE SCHOLARSHIP   Music The American Foundation for the Blind administers a scholarship program for deserving students. The R. L. Women’s Music Commission   Music The Women’s Music Commission is a classical music competition for women composers ages 20 through 30 who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States. The winning composer receives a $5,000 commission to create a new work. The BMI Student Composer Awards   Music The BMI Student Composer Awards is a competition for young composers of classical music. Founded in 1951, the competition has become one of the most coveted and prestigious awards for young composers in the Western Hemisphere. Applicants must be citizens of countries in the Western Hemisphere and must be either enrolled in accredited public, private or parochial secondary schools, in accredited colleges or conservatories of music, or engaged in private study of music with recognized and established teachers. The Donna Reed Foundation (hs seniors)   Music The Donna Reed Foundation for the Performing Arts awards Acting and Musical Theatre scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $200. Must be high school senior graduating during the current school year; be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or one of its territories; submit a three-minute video; and attend the Donna Reed Festival Workshops held the third week of June in Donna Reed’s hometown of Denison, Iowa. http://www.donnareed.org  
Glenn Miller Birthplace Society   Music The Glenn Miller Birthplace Society is offering four scholarships, $2,400 and $1,200 to instrumentalists and $2,000 and $1,000 to vocalists. These scholarships, which are awarded without regard to any other award, may be used for any education-related expense. National Federation of Music Clubs   Music The National Federation of Music Clubs offers more than $750,000 in competition and award prizes on the local, state and national level. The biennial Young Artist and Ellis Duo-Pianists competitions award a total of $50,000 in awards and two years of performance bookings. Additional competitions are sponsored by the Federation in a wide range of categories, including voice, instrumental music, composition, dance, conducting, handicapped and visually impaired, and music therapy. PAS Armand Zildjian Percussion Scholarship Music As a charter member of the Percussive Arts Society and a 16-year Trustee of Berklee College Armand Zildjian sought to create more learning opportunities for today’s musicians in both contemporary and classical music. The PAS Armand Zildjian Percussion Scholarship is one step in fulfilling that quest. PAS Hudson Music Drumset Scholarship Music Established by Hudson Music in 2006, the PAS Hudson Music Drumset Scholarship continues the company’s commitment to music education and to the support of student drummers. Funding is provided through proceeds from sales of Hudson Music’s “Classic Jazz” series DVDs. The PAS/Remo, Inc. Fred Hoey Memorial Scholarship Music Fred Hoey had an illustrious career in the field of music as an author, clinician, and percussion industry innovator. He was a charter member of the Percussive Arts Society and an educator whose influence on percussionists continues with the PAS Fred Hoey Memorial Scholarship. PAS/Sabian, Ltd. Larrie Londin Memorial Scholarship Music The late Larrie Londin was one of the world’s leading studio drummers. A musician with an adventurous musical spirit, he was a man who liked to share with others. That sharing continues through the PAS/Sabian Larrie London Memorial Scholarship. PAS/Yamaha Terry Gibbs Vibraphone Scholarship Music The PAS/Yamaha Terry Gibbs Vibraphone Scholarship was established in 2005 in honor of legendary jazz vibraphonist Terry Gibbs. Gibbs is recognized as one of the best ever to grace the genre of bop, having played with artists such as Buddy Rich, Benny Goodman, Charlie Parker and Dizzie Gillespie, and leading his own critically acclaimed big band, The Dream Band. Funded by Yamaha, the $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually to a full-time student registered in an accredited college or university school of music for the following academic year. String Letter Publishing   Music PROGRAM: Strings Magazine grants 1 $3,000 scholarship to a string student each year based on financial need, academic merit, and community service. ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible for a Strings Magazine Award, you must play the violin, viola, cello, or bass. Student must demonstrate financial need, academic merit, and a record of community service. Gladys Stone Wright Scholarship   Music Each year the Women Band Directors International awards five $300 scholarships designed to salute the people for which they are named, and to support young college women presently preparing to be band directors. Three of the scholarships are designated for college upperclassmen, and one is open to all levels--freshmen to graduate students. Any female college student pursuing a degree in instrumental music studying to be a band director is encouraged to apply. Musicians with Special Needs Scholarship   Music (Formerly under the heading of Visually Impaired Scholarship). A scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded to a member of Sigma Alpha Iota who has a sensory or physical impairment and is enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in music. Undergraduate Scholarships . Every year each chapter may nominate one member under senior status for a scholarship. There will be 12 scholarships at $1500 and 3 Holt winners at $2000. Music Education for Graduate Students   Music In memory of Mabel Biever. Sponsored by the Oak Park Alumnae Chapter. A scholarship of $1,500 will be awarded to a member of Sigma Alpha Iota who has completed an undergraduate degree in Music Education and has been accepted into and/or continuing in an accredited graduate program leading to a masters or doctoral degree in music education. The alumnae member must be in good standing with the fraternity and have paid National Dues. It is preferred that the candidate has had at least one year of teaching experience in a private or public school.
