Portfolio Reviews / Interviews
All students applying for a BFA in Design or a BA in Theatre (with a design, technology, management emphasis) must schedule and interview and/or portfolio review.
2018-19 Portfolio/Interview Dates
(times 3:30PM to 6:30PM)
March 1, 2019
April 19, 2019
and by Appointment (contact Tony Galaska firstname.lastname@example.org)
Interviews are conducted at the FIU Theatre Department at Florida International University, 10910 SW 17th Street, Miami, FL 33199. At each interview session, there is an opportunity to learn more about the program, see the performance spaces, and for parents and prospective students to ask questions.
Since the BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) is a design and production degree, your portfolio should include examples of all your visually creative pursuits, i.e., drawing, painting, photography, doodles, graphics, crafts, theatrical design in any area – include preparation materials, process pictures, as well as photos of outcome, anything that demonstrates your creative self.
Be prepared for a short conversation with the Design & Production faculty. Be ready to discuss the materials in your portfolio, your previous creative work, shows on which you’ve worked, the kind of performing arts you enjoy and why, and performing arts that you have seen or studied. If interested in Stage Management, bring one or two stage management production books that show your organizational strategies, blocking, cueing, communications from a rehearsal or performance to show at the interview.
If you have any questions, please email Tony Galaska, Head of Design, email@example.com.
