Interested in applying?

To study at FIU Theatre, prospective students must apply and be accepted by both the University and the Department of Theatre.

You are encouraged to apply as early as possible. We cannot accept students into the Department of Theatre if they have not been accepted to the University.

FIU Theatre receives hundreds of applications every year. We are committed to keeping our class sizes small to ensure that our students receive the best education possible and have greater access to opportunities. Therefore, acceptance to FIU Theatre is very selective.

Below is a guide to the application process.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Step 1: Apply to Florida International University

Apply to the University as soon as possible. Getting accepted through the University can be a lengthy process, and your chances of being admitted are higher if you apply early.

If you are interested in enrolling in Fall 2024, the University’s application deadline is March 25, 2024Click here for more information on the University’s application deadlines

Check out FIU’s Admissions FAQ Page for more information.

When you are ready to apply, visit the Admissions to start your application.

If you have questions or need help with the University’s application process, this link will show you have to schedule an appointment with an admissions counselor.

Step 2: Apply to the Department of Theatre

Since FIU Theatre is a selective program, you must apply for acceptance into the program.

There are two ways to apply: an audition or a portfolio review. Your application path depends on which degree you are applying for and where your interests lie.

If you are applying for a BFA in Musical Theatre, BFA in Theatre Performance, or BA in Theatre (with a strong interest in acting), you should schedule an audition. You may find details on our audition process and deadlines on our Auditions page.

If you are applying for a BFA in Theatre Design or a BA in Theatre (with a strong interest in design, technical theatre, or stage management), you should schedule an interview/portfolio review. You may find details on the portfolio review process as well as upcoming deadlines on our Portfolio Review page.
