FIU Theatre Faculty Designs Set for Off-Broadway Production
FIU Theatre faculty member, Jesse Dreikosen was tapped by Peggy McKowen, Associate Producing Director of the Contemporary American Theater Festival (CATF), to design the set for their world premiere show Uncanny Valley, written by Thomas Gibbons and directed by Tom Dugdale.

Rick and Margarita Tonkinson Theatre Lobby Dedication
The Tonkinsons have graciously donated $50,000 to FIU’s College of Architecture + The Arts (CARTA), which will provide scholarships for CARTA students. In recognition of their munificence, The Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center Mainstage Theatre lobby has been dedicated to them.

TONY GALASKA | Associate Professor

Tony Galaska received his M.F.A. in lighting design from Purdue University, a B.F.A. form the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and an A.A. from the University of Wisconsin Waukesha. Prior to joining the faculty at FIU, Tony worked as a designer in NYC with companies such as Toy Box Theatre Company, The Gallery Players, Wings Theatre Company, Metropolitan Playhouse, and New Perspective Theatre Company. He also works regionally with The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey and The Texas Shakespeare Festival. At FIU he has designed Pericles, The Birds, Springs Awakening, and The Cook. He has received Faculty excellence awards from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) for his lighting design of The Cook and Springs Awakening.

Tony is focused on continuing to research new methods of presentation techniques for designers and the integration of technology to the pre-planning collaborative process an the staged performance of a production.
