About the Job

The Technical Business Analyst acts as an intermediary between the business community and the technical community, working with IT project teams and business clients to collect, clarify, and document business requirements (using appropriate tools and models) from which applications and solutions are developed. The Technical Business Analyst is an active thought partner and application visionary who shapes business demand for technology.

Essential Functions

  • Works with executive and senior leaders to create and maintain an operating plan to achieve the strategic vision and operating platform that defines the people, processes, tools, and technology
  • Partners with business and technology partners to elicit, analyze, translate, and document business requirements into technical requirements
  • Analyzes, documents and tests program development, logic, process flows and specifications
  • Partners with business partners to conduct user acceptance testing
  • Documents user manuals to describe application installation and operating procedures
  • Coordinates the project resources to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget
  • Translates business and/or system requirements into functional technical specifications.
  • Determines operational objectives by studying business functions, gathering information, and evaluating output and requirements formats.
  • Improves existing systems by identifying problem areas and writing improved procedures.
  • Maintains user confidence in projects by frequent communication to business owners and IT leadership.
  • Lead scrum and grooming sessions and requirements overview with developers.
  • Assist in the quality assurance, defining testing strategy, and risks. Provide significant contributions in the testing and debugging of new software or enhancements in a timely manner.

 

Education and Experience

  • Minimum three years of experience in project management
  • Demonstrated experience in writing software requirements and test specifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field
  • Demonstrated knowledge using SQL, T-SQL preferred
  • Experience with Project Management/planning tools, such as Jira.
  • Understanding of Agile highly preferred.

  • Ability to create compelling business cases with accurate cost and effort estimations
  • Excellent understanding of business complexity and project interdependencies
  • Intellectual curiosity and the ability to question thought partners across functional areas
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to quickly troubleshoot problems that may arise in work products
  • Ability to partner with software engineers and quality analysts to identify course of resolutions
  • Strong understanding of basic system engineering, object-oriented design, information risk and security guidelines, and architecture standards
  • In depth understanding of various software development methodologies (e.g. Agile, Waterfall)
  • Understanding of modeling techniques, such as unified modeling language
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills required.
  • Attention to detail including self-verification
  • Must be flexible and quick to adapt to changes.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Broad understanding of, and experience with various hardware and software systems, including their installation, maintenance, and lifecycles.
