NPR’s Summer 2021 Internship Program will be fully remote. 

Program Duration: June 1 – August 20, 2021

 NPR’s Distribution division serves as the bridge between public radio program producers and public radio stations, helping to deliver (by satellite and internet) the public radio shows you listen to every day.

We are seeking a detail-oriented individual with an eye for design to join us this summer as a User Experience Designer/Developer Intern. We’ve developed the architecture, wireframes and even a prototype for our new website. Help us improve our plans to ensure our visitors have the best online experience. Our goals for the internship will include stylizing the look of our site, improving usability and flow of our pages, making sure our site looks consistent, adding analytics coding, SEO, ensuring our site is not only responsive, but accessible as well. It’s a must that our site be 508 compliant, follow accessibility guidelines and best practices. Work might also include landing page creation, email layout design, social graphics and HTML/CSS/JavaScript coding. *Experience working with Webflow is required.*

The intern will work closely with Distribution’s marketing communications team in developing designs modeled after our branding strategy. The ideal candidate should be creative, passionate about design and user experience, and eager to learn. This is an exciting opportunity to assist the Distribution Division reimagine their online presence as part of their rebranding effort. 

INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES

  •    Develop web layout, styles and functionality
  •    Ensure website is responsive, consistent and accessible
  •    Conduct QA and user testing 

WHO CAN APPLY?

  • LOCATION: Must be planning to work from the United States and authorized to work in the United States throughout the Summer 2021 internship dates. 
  • EDUCATION: Must be a current student in an accredited degree program or a recent graduate of no more than 12 months from the month of the start of the internship. 

REQUIRED SKILLS

  •    Experience using Webflow and manipulating Webflow code
  •    Experience designing for section 508 compliance
  •    Familiarity with accessibility testing and best practices
  •    Skilled at performing thorough QA testing
  •    Proven UX/UI skills 

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Adobe Creative Suite
  • Sketch or Figma
  • Experience creating interactions in Webflow (page triggers/element triggers)
  •  Google Tag Manager
  • Setting Goals and Tracking Conversions in Google Analytics
