A day in the life:

  • Assemble project development teams to do preliminary engineering design and development work.
  • Prioritize project delivery team activities, monitor progress and provide feedback.
  • Develop stakeholder involvement plan for each project, including public information meetings and press releases.
  • Coordinate with other agencies and governments on projects. Draft, negotiate or provide input for intergovernmental agreements.
  • Ensure appropriate handoffs to the project manager occur after preliminary engineering phase is completed.
  • Assemble project scoping teams that include various agency employees, local government partners and representatives from external regulatory agencies.
  • Identify project options, recommended scope and expected outcomes.
  • Prepare preliminary and final schedule for all projects, using input from the project scoping process.
  • Deliver the project to bid award, as scoped, on schedule and within budget.
  • Request cost estimates for project elements and prepare a project budget for each project element.
  • Develop methods to track budget. Identify excessive or erroneous spending and take action to resolve.
  • Evaluate project regularly to assure results comply with quality standards, rules, policies and other parameters
  • Work primarily in an office environment. Travel regularly within the region and occasionally statewide.
  • May work outdoors at project sites and be exposed to traffic, construction and inclement weather.
  • Long hours, including evening meetings, may be required.

What we need:

Six years of progressively responsible experience related to the class series concept.

OR

An associate degree (or comparable course work) in architectural, construction or engineering technology AND four and one-half years of progressively responsible experience related to the class series concept.

 

OR

A bachelor’s degree in construction management, business administration, public administration, architecture, planning or engineering AND three years of progressively responsible experience related to the class series concept.

Additionally, driving is an essential function of this position. A valid driver license, an acceptable driving record and the ability to drive are required for this position.
