Program Duration: May 31, 2022 – August 19, 2022
INTERN WILL LEARN AND BE EXPOSED TO:
NPR Digital Media is committed to delivering high quality listening, reading and viewing experiences across all platforms. As an Android Engineer intern, you will work on high-performing Scrum teams in a collaborative environment. You will be involved in all aspects of feature development for NPR mobile apps, from planning to implementation and publishing. You will work closely with other Android Engineers, learning the best practices of Android development and software architecture patterns.
INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with other Android Engineers, Designers, Product Managers, Full Stack SWE, and Editorial Team to plan, implement, and ship new features
- Leverage test-driven development to ensure integrity of features
- Iterate on existing features to improve user experience and performance
WHO CAN APPLY?
- LOCATION: This internship has the flexibility to be onsite at our Washington DC office, fully remote, and/or a hybrid version of the two based on the intern’s preference.
- EDUCATION: Must be a current student in an accredited degree program or a recent graduate of no more than 12 months from the month of the start of the internship.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Experience with Java or Kotlin
- Knowledge of object-oriented programming principles
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Empathy for users and passion for crafting great user experiences
- Android development experience
- Experience with Kotlin
- Knowledge of design patterns and software architecture
SCHEDULE
- 40 hours per week, M-F, flexible start time depending on their time zone (8-10 AM ET, 9 AM preferred).
