The purpose of this position is to design remodel projects of small to medium complexity that requires cross-functional involvement from multiple departments within Facilities and Retail. This includes but is not limited to: creating scope of work, drafting design development plans, reviewing construction documents for accuracy prior to permitting, and serving as a single point of contact for internal and external business partners throughout construction and post-remodel to provide direction and to resolve design issues. In accomplishing these responsibilities, this position ensures remodel designs are completed on time, on budget, and according to Publix standards, and that we are providing the best possible product for our customers.

 

Additional responsibilities include:

 

  • manages the design of remodel projects of small to medium complexity; standard re-models, heavy paint, decors, and special projects
  • collects and manage all pertinent input, needs, and data from the various Publix stakeholders and organize that information into a project scope that clearly identifies project objectives
  • designs and drafts design development plans for projects of small to medium complexity that are accurate and consistent with Publix design standards

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in a design related field or its equivalent and at least four (4) years of work related experience in a retail design field working on construction documents (or)
  • Two-year post high school certificate in a design related discipline or technical/trade school degree including four (4) years of work related experience in a retail design working on construction documents (or)
  • Bachelor’s degree in related design field and (2) years of experience in a retail design field working on construction documents
  • knowledge of underlying infrastructure required to support equipment (e.g. electrical, plumbing (drains), etc. and ancillary equipment requirements
  • knowledge of architectural design, building codes, and ADA requirements
  • knowledge of architectural, engineering, and construction disciplines
  • relationship building and problem-solving skills
  • excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • project management and design skills
  • advanced knowledge of CADD
  • intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ degree in an Architecture or Engineering-related field
  • three (3) years of experience in retail design related field
  • knowledge of Publix organizational structure
  • knowledge of Publix business units merchandising strategies
  • knowledge of retail store operations, equipment, and use
  • expert knowledge of CADD
  • expert knowledge of MicroStation
  • intermediate knowledge of REVIT
  • advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint)
  • knowledge of Publix validated equipment
  • knowledge of Publix design standards
