We are currently seeking a motivated senior land planning manager with 7+ years of experience as our collaborative and innovative firm continues to grow within the greater DC metro, Maryland, Richmond and the Carolinas. Position Description
In this position, located in our Richmond office, you will work on various private and public sector projects within a team-oriented design environment, with opportunities for career growth and advancement. Project work will include managing personnel and project work such as land use and zoning research, site evaluation studies, conceptual and schematic master planning, entitlement submission drawings, and presentation exhibits and graphics.
Position Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of project work from inception to completion
- Allocate work to team personnel, set expectations, review work, and present to clients
- Review project budgeting and performance, and prepare monthly project billing
- Attend client meetings and internal meetings with other managers
- Obtain new clients and project work, and prepare project proposals
- Contribute professional design expertise and technical knowledge to the project team
- Be resourceful, organized, produce high-quality work, and show good decision-making
- Be motivated for working both independently and in a team environment
Education Requirements
Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Urban Planning, Urban design, Landscape Architecture or a similar discipline from an accredited university
Required Skills and Experience
- Experience with project management and managing team personnel
- Experience with writing project proposals and obtaining new clients and project work
- Knowledge of local land use/comprehensive plans and zoning codes
- Experience with the preparation of entitlement submission drawings, site evaluation studies and conceptual and schematic master plans
- Excellent managerial, design, written and verbal communication skills
- American Institute of Certified Planners certification desired, but not required
