Internship Descriptions:
Miami-Dade County’s Information Technology Department seek a self-directed IT intern focused on Gov Tech engagement and digital communications. Ideal candidates will have experience in and a passion for disruptive technologies, Web 3.0, and innovative, collaborative, and creative problem-solving. The successful candidate will actively contribute to meaningful projects with real world, county-wide impacts, will work closely with a mentor and with senior leadership to accomplish tasks, move projects forward, and develop professionally.

Certifications
Students selected for this program will choose a specialty track tied to working groups within Miami-Dade ITD. As part of that track, students will work towards a industry certification with the support of FIU.
Interns will work under the direction of their assigned supervisor(s) and mentor(s) to work on tasks and assigned projects. Interns will be provided a County email address and access to all the tools and software needed to work productively with their team on their projects. This shall include:
· Attend training sessions related to tools and services as needed.
· Attend meetings with County supervisor and assigned mentor to receive new tasks and give progress updates on assignments.
· Work collaboratively with supervisor and staff on assigned tasks as determined by supervisor and staff.
· Attend regular check-in meetings with assigned mentor to discuss experiences and ask questions.
Hourly wage: $15.57
Hours per week: 20 hours per week
Interns will need to have access to their own laptop and webcam to be considered
Learning outcomes:
As a result of this internship, students will be able to :
· Apply their academic knowledge within a fast-paced and innovative IT organization
· Understand how to develop and deliver data-driven and innovative solutions to a wide range of customers with real world/county-wide impact
· Develop specialized knowledge in their selected track (e.g. cyber security and data analytics)
· Understand how to develop and manage assigned IT-related projects.
Minimum Requirements
· Pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree in or related to Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Telecommunications & Networking, Information Technology, Journalism, Communication, or Architecture.
· Minimum GPA of 3.0
· Graduation date of Fall 2022 or later
· Strong verbal and written communication
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
· Ability to work well in teams
· Ability to work remotely with a flexible work schedule with in-person and virtual meetings
· Strong work ethic and attention to detail
