ARTIST ASSISTANT NEEDED

About:
Jill Hotchkiss is a full time, professional artist (Pratt MFA alumni) looking for assistance in the studio with the variety of tasks below. The studio is located at the Art’s Warehouse in Downtown Delray Beach, Florida- walkable distance to all the downtown surrounding amenities and is a gallery with 15-20 artist studios, full of local artists + art administrators, rotating exhibitions and a supportive, wonderful community. With over 15 years of professional fine art and design experience working in the field in NYC (and Miami), this is a wonderful and easy going opportunity for hands on learning of all aspects of the art + design business/ career.
Task include:
1. Hands on help
- Applying sizing (ink like glue) for gilded works in a painterly manner
- Retouching work
- Assisting w exhibitions, installing, delivering work, framing
- Assisting w public art projects, liaison with city and community, presentations
- Organizing and cleaning studio
- Photography (completed works, in studio working/ process for social media)
- Mapping out collection releases online
2. Social media
- Laying out and scheduling posts on IG
- Creating reels
- Generating interesting for direct to consumer sales via website shop | newsletter
3. Admin
- Receiving/fulfilling online orders
- Shipping
- Email correspondance
- Inputting emails mailing lists
- Ordering materials
4. Organization
5. Outreach
- Private commission | hospitality commissions
Qualifications:
Basic Fine Art training and background necessary.
- Having a steady hand and experience with ink is preferred
- Familiar with Instagram
- Looking for a long term position
- Access to a car
Pay scale: $15 an hour, 10-15 hrs a week starting out (with possibility to develop into full time, room for growth financially)
About Jill Hotchkiss:
Jill Hotchkiss was born in Hollywood, Florida. She received her Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture from Pratt Institute and Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from the University of Florida. She has participated in artists residencies in Public Art at School of Visual Arts in New York and at Oolite Arts in Miami. After working for the past 10 years in New York City as a practicing artist and teaching artist (instructing children and adults), she has recently returned back to her home state and has a working studio, open to the public, based in downtown Delray Beach, Florida. Her work has been included in numerous exhibitions, private and public collections throughout the United States, South America, Japan and Europe along with a variety of large scale hospitality and architectural commissions.
