Internship in the Planning & Development Services Department, providing administrative tasks and research projects that will assist the City Landscape Architect in department responsibilities and activities. Intern will assist landscape staff in conducting studies, analyzing data, field inspections and organizing files. Work is performed under the direction of the Landscape Architect and is reviewed through conferences, reports submitted, and results obtained. Intern is expected to work up to 24 hours a week over a twelve (12) week time frame.

Research and Data Collection

  • Conduct field surveys and gather information for landscape; assist landscape architect in preparation of pictorial and graphic presentations to be used for landscape projects. 
  • Conduct research on landscape projects using computer files.
  • Conduct field inspection of public properties to assist in preparation of conceptual design, design development, landscape studies, and landscape code compliance. 
  • Research codes of other municipalities as directed. Conduct research for landscape related projects.

Miscellaneous

  • Assist with file organization for all site plans and landscape related matters.
  • Assist with neighborhood meetings as needed.
  • Interact and communicate with a variety of groups and individuals including supervisors, City personnel, consultants, review boards and the public.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned.
  • Perform all other related duties as required.
