Design Professional I
Description: The Design Professional I is the entry level position for the professional architectural staff with less than 3 years of experience. The Design Professional’s primary activity is in the implementation of project tasks to fulfill project directives and as assigned by senior staff. Under the direction of Senior Staff, the Design Professional I will concentrate on specific design or documentation tasks that contribute to the overall project.
Experience:
• A Design Professional must possess a professional advanced degree in Architecture, either a Bachelor of Architecture (5 year degree) or a Bachelor of Science in Architecture (4 year degree) • The Design Professional must be able to demonstrate Architectural Design abilities via a portfolio of design and project works.
• The Design Professional I must be able to demonstrate an ability to express and explain design and technical ideas graphically via the use of hand sketching and drawings and/or professional graphic software programs, which may include: Revit, CADD, MicroStation, Rhino, Sketch-up, 3D Studio Max, Photoshop, Word, Excel, and etc.
The Design Professional I must have a basic understanding of building systems such as structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, as well as a basic understanding of the integration of these systems within built structures. Role responsibilities: Specific responsibilities of the Design Professional I may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Work within a Team structure to perform design and construction documentation tasks, as assigned by Senior Staff.
• Independently investigate and develop architectural designs via hand drawing, computer drafting, rendering, and model building skills.
• Preform “red line” changes • Prepare presentation drawings.
• Meet task and project deadlines.
• Communicate an understanding of task assignments and expectations. • Explore alternate design approaches as directed by Senior Staff.
• Inform Senior Staff of potential project opportunities.
• Undertake project related research.
• Further develop the Design Professional’s understanding of building systems, codes, and construction methods.
• Further Develop computer software skills and keep informed on updates, improvements and trends.
• Promote a collaborative team atmosphere
