Einwiller Kuehl Inc. (www.einwillerkuehl.com) is an award-winning, full-service design studio located near Jack London Square in Oakland, CA. Projects at our studio span a broad range of scales and budgets and nearly all are local to Northern California. Most projects begin in concept design and are carried through construction with strong realization of craft and details. The studio environment is collaborative, inclusive, and interested in design in all forms. RESPONSIBILITIES

Internship is offered at Einwiller Kuehl for talented, innovative, and motivated young designers who are interested in all types of projects in all stages of development. The internship will bring opportunities to work on conceptual design and design documentation as well as to accompany EK staff on field visits for construction observation and plant selection at nearby sites.

The intern will be responsible for the preparation of conceptual models and drawings, design documentation, and construction documents with supervision. The intern will work on design sketches, renderings, and layout for presentations in coordination with others. They will provide support to project teams and other staff members as required on a variety of project phases and tasks, such as procuring material samples and research of products. The intern may also provide assistance to the Principals in the preparation of marketing materials and proposals.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Candidates must have completed at least one year of a MLA program or 3 years of a BArch, BLA, or BSLA undergraduate program.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Profound curiosity and investigative thinking

• Experience working in a professional landscape architecture studio or basic knowledge of

project process from conceptualization through design documentation

• Experience collaborating with teams

• Excellent communication skills with speaking, writing, and organization of information

• Strong design and graphic ability

• Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat, Illustrator, InDesign, and

Photoshop)

• Knowledge of Sketchup, Lumion, REVIT, and or Rhino a plus

The 2023 internship will be held in person at our office in Oakland, California. Interns will be working 40 hours per week (compensated), with a 10 week minimum, starting at the beginning of June and working through August.
