Location: Corporate Support Office in either Covington, LA or Clearwater, FL

 

Job Summary:

The Project Architect – Construction Management will review and prepare architectural drawings and oversee and manage construction projects for POOLCORP’s distribution centers, ensuring they are completed safely, efficiently, and within budget. This role involves coordinating with various departments, contractors, and teams to achieve project goals. The ideal candidate should have experience in preparing architectural drawings for commercial properties and experience construction management and be proficient in problem-solving, project budgeting, and maintaining strong communication with team members and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and manages all aspects of construction projects for distribution centers.
  • Reviews and drafts architectural drawings for industrial distribution centers.
  • Coordinates effectively with contractors to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Utilizes construction experience to ensure adherence to relevant building codes and safety standards.
  • Develops and manages project budgets, including hard and soft costs.
  • Creates and manages project schedules, ensuring tasks are completed on time.
  • Assembles and manages teams of consultants and contractors, negotiating contracts and maintaining relationships.
  • Identifies and addresses potential liabilities and risks.
  • Assists in training and developing project team members.
  • Engages in business development activities to secure new construction projects and partnerships within local markets.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • A professional degree in Architecture, preferably a Master’s degree from an accredited school of architecture.
  • Licensed Architect in the state of Louisiana or Florida or eligibility to obtain licensure through reciprocity.
  • LEED accreditation or other relevant certifications are desirable.
  • At least 3 – 5 years of post-graduate architectural experience, including significant exposure to project management.
  • Firm knowledge of construction, architecture, or commercial real estate industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, lease agreements, and building codes.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software, especially MS Excel. Experience with construction management software is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interactions with internal and external clients.
  • Superior organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities while prioritizing safety and security.
