Aidan Ackerman is an Assistant Professor of Landscape Architecture at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse, New York. Prior to this position, he was the Director of Digital Media and Landscape Architecture Faculty at Boston Architectural College. He received his Master of Landscape Architecture degree from Harvard Graduate School of Design, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Alfred University in New York.

Ackerman’s research is focused on computational simulation and visualization of landscape ecology using information-driven environmental modeling. He believes that the complexity of designing living systems presents research and design challenges that necessitate powerful and flexible digital tools. His research occurs through SUNY ESF’s Carbon and Applied Forest Research Institute (CAFRI), and Michigan State University’s Forest Carbon and Climate Program (FCCP) as well as the U.S National Park Service and the Olmsted Center for Landscape Preservation. His research has been published in peer-reviewed journals as well as in Landscape Architecture magazine.
