
Henry Rueda is a designer, educator, and academic leader who has served as Chair of the Department of Architecture at Florida International University from 2022 to 2026. His work bridges design practice, research, and pedagogy, with a focus on housing, public space, and interdisciplinary collaboration. He has led multiple international academic and professional partnerships, fostering exchanges between architecture, technology, and the arts. His professional experience includes work with Jesus Tenreiro in Caracas, Venezuela, and with Wiel Arets in Maastricht, the Netherlands. His current work focuses on single-family residences in different cities in Venezuela and in Miami. In 2014, his VL House was nominated for the Emerging Architects Mies Crown Hall Prize of the Americas, organized by the Illinois Institute of Technology.
Through teaching, exhibitions, and built projects, his trajectory advances design as a cultural and civic instrument.
