The Paraclete is seeking highly motivated and flexible individuals to do rewarding service work for one year through Americorps by making a difference in the lives of children in the South Boston area. Includes housing in a highly desirable location with incredible views of Downtown Boston.
*Make a meaningful difference in the South Boston community during Covid-19 recovery*
We plan to adapt our programming as a result of changes to Boston Public Schools because of the Covid-19 pandemic. As in-person schooling experiences may change, our staff and our program will be flexible to best support the academic and childcare needs of our students, families, and partner schools.
The Paraclete Afterschool Program fosters the intellectual, moral, social, and creative growth of its students and nurtures the full potential of their whole character. We do this in a number of ways: we balance high expectations with an unfailingly positive culture; we practice project and game-based learning in classes that actively engage students and emphasize hands-on activities; we keep classes small to provide a large amount of individual attention to student needs; and we design our curriculum to align with that of the Boston Public Schools in order to reinforce the material that students learn during their school days and to enrich what cannot be explored daily in school. Now we are introducing a community engagement aspect of our program. We encourage both our students and their families to volunteer in the community they come from. We hope to be a catalyst of many students who are dedicated to giving back throughout their lives.
Paraclete teachers receive a monthly stipend. Teacher may also qualify for $5,645 Education Award from AmeriCorps. Please note that if interested in the Education Award, as per AmeriCorps requirements, the position must be filled by a U.S. citizen, national, or legal permanent resident of the United States.
Bachelor’s Degree is Required. We welcome all academic backgrounds. Spanish speaking is a plus.
Excellent opportunity for individuals interested in preparing for graduate school, medical school, law school, and the non-profit sector.
Please submit cover letters and resumes to Molly Zollo at principal@paraclete.org.
