Lutheran Volunteer Corps Service-Year
Spend a year serving at a social justice non-profit, while exploring living in community, living simply & sustainably, and exploring spirituality. We are seeking people who wish to bridge social justice in practice with social justice theory; build leadership and employable skills in social justice; and explore the LVC values of living in community, simply and sustainably, to build communication across differences.
The Lutheran Volunteer Corps is a community of faith uniting people to work for peace with justice. We pursue our mission by placing adults 21+ (“volunteers”) in full-time service positions at social-justice organizations for one or two years. All LVC Volunteers are encouraged to live into LVC’s core spiritual practices of living simply and sustainably in intentional community while serving the cause of peace with justice. LVC places Volunteers in nonprofits (placements) across the United States in Baltimore, MD; Minneapolis, MN; St. Paul, MN; Omaha, NE; Washington, DC; and Wilmington, DE.
LVC Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age. LVC Volunteers come from a wide variety of faith backgrounds, and do not need to be Lutheran. As a Reconciling in Christ organization, LVC welcomes and encourages the participation of people of all gender identities and sexual orientations in all aspects of LVC.

Program Assistant with Daily Work:
Job Summary:
The Program Assistant assists with Daily Work’s career services program including assisting job seekers and case managers as needed, improving data collection and quality, and assisting with fundraising- and communication-related activities, as directed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Assistance (60 percent)
In collaboration with the Daily Work board of directors and Daily Work staff,
• Serve as a resource for Daily Work volunteers and interns; provide direct consultation with job seekers as needed.
• Audit and monitor that all Daily Work policies and procedures, especially related to Apricot and data collection, are implemented correctly at every shift.
• Cultivate existing relationships and develop new relationships with current and potential partners, government, and social service providers to advance the organization’s mission, safe-guard existing activities, and generate new opportunities.
• Assist with developing and implementing a client recognition and/or incentive program and recruiting job seekers willing to share their stories.
• Assist with maintaining all Daily Work’s files, databases and tracking reports as directed.
• Assist with marketing Daily Work services to others and recruit participants as needed.
• Assist with administration of TECI, Microgrants and other programs. Submit reports as required.
• Communicate and make recommendations to advance Daily Work’s mission, goals, and objectives.
Communications and Fundraising (40 percent)
• Assist with creating content for Daily Work communication vehicles (web, social media, emails) and keeping them updated.
• Assist as needed with Daily Work’s annual fundraising luncheon
• Assist with all other administrative tasks as requested including: compiling meeting minutes, corresponding with others, scheduling appointments, answering the phone and greeting job seekers when they arrive for appointments
Miscellaneous
• Develop and maintain productive, positive working relationships with Daily Work staff and volunteers.
• Perform all functions professionally, treating any individual involved in an assigned task with respect and in a manner that evidences the ability to effectively address issues.
• Work effectively and respectfully with individuals without regard to race, color, creed, religion, national origin, marital status, political affiliation, sexual orientation, status with regard to public assistance, membership or activity in a local commission, disability, sex and/or age.
• Maintain a level of flexibility with all staff, volunteers and clients, offering assistance to others as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity and ability to effectively interact with people from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds
• Demonstrated interest and ability to work with students in internships and volunteers
• Exceptionally strong reasoning and organizational skills; ability to multitask
• Able to interact professionally and effectively with job seekers, interns, volunteers, supervisors, and members of the community
• Candidates must be task- and implementation-oriented, creative, innovative, flexible, and self-motivated toward achieving excellence
• Demonstrated computer competence to include social media and the Web, word processing, working with databases, spreadsheets, and reporting.
• Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• A four-year degree in a related field is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and access/ownership of a car preferred
