You are:

  • A talented, creative, and versatile copywriter with 3-5 years of experience creating dynamic content in a professional marketing setting or a closely related field
  • Familiar with the higher education industry, including HBCUs
  • A lover of the English language with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, creative writing, advertising, marketing, or a related area of study
  • Well-versed in foundational marketing concepts as well as best practices for crafting direct marketing content that captivates readers and motivates them to take action
  • A resourceful reporter who thrives on uncovering interesting details that will make your client stand out from competitors
  • A critical and original thinker who can develop top-level concepts that will drive the visual and linguistic direction of entire campaigns
  • Comfortable crafting content for a wide range of print, digital and video formats
  • A skilled multitasker who performs well under tight deadlines
  • A quick study who isn’t afraid to ask smart questions
  • Organized and attentive to detail
  • Devoted to delivering clean, compelling, and error-free copy
  • A team player who is comfortable working closely with other writers, editors, designers, and project managers in a highly collaborative environment
  • A consummate professional who is comfortable interacting directly with clients via interviews, group presentations, and more
  • An adept bilingual writer (encouraged but not required)

 

What you’ll do in this role:

  • Write marketing literature, promotional emails, web pages, digital advertising materials, video scripts, and more
  • Conduct research and interviews to collect information needed to create your copy
  • Ensure that all copy aligns with the client’s branding strategy in terms of voice, tone, and messaging, addresses the specific needs of the targeted audience, and is free of grammatical, spelling, and factual errors
  • Participate in projects at all stages, from strategy and concept development through publication
  • Work on multiple campaigns simultaneously
  • Keep abreast of industry trends to ensure you’re consistently able to deliver fresh, timely, and compelling content
  • Present your work both internally and to clients; occasional travel required
