Established in 1995, the Women’s Congressional Policy Institute (WCPI) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan public policy organization whose mission is to bring together a community of bipartisan women policymakers and trusted partners to advance issues of importance to women, develop the next generation of women leaders, and foster a more effective and representative democracy. WCPI sponsors programming for women Members of Congress and women congressional chiefs of staff, a congressional fellowship program, policy briefings on Capitol Hill, and several signature events focused on key bipartisan women’s issues.

Our board, staff, programs, and events reflect our goal to empower voices that often are underrepresented in public policy dialogues, and create a culture of mutual respect and shared success. Following the election of a record number of women and women of color to Congress, WCPI has reached a critical phase in its development and is seeking to expand its outreach and impact.

We are seeking a proactive, energetic communications professional to increase WCPI’s reputation among its key audiences; promote WCPI programs; fundraise; and improve overall communications capacity. This position reports to the Vice President and will be a valued member of the WCPI team.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Create, schedule, and publish program-specific content for the website, email, and social media platforms;
  • Collaborate with WCPI’s fundraising efforts to better engage with existing and potential donors;
  • Develop, use, and report on metrics/analytics for continued improvement of communications and engagement;
  • Build relationships with key Women’s Caucus press/communications staff;
  • Improve coordination of existing technology and communications efforts;
  • Ensure constituent relationship management (CRM) databases are up-to-date;
  • Provide communications support for all WCPI programs, including, but not limited to, live-tweeting at WCPI events and providing virtual technical support;
  • Help supervise the Communications/Development Intern; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

This position requires:

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills;
  • Political acumen, especially focused on bipartisanship; congressional experience is a strong plus;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Fluency in various social media platforms;
  • Adept with website administrator tools, especially WordPress;
  • Experience with CRM and fundraising platforms, especially Bloomerang, a plus;
  • Previous work on development/fundraising communications a plus;
  • Graphic design abilities/experience a plus;
  • Creativity and a sense of humor.
