Responsibilities
The School and Teacher Program Coordinator is responsible for design, implementation, and administration of K-12 programming at The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art.
Tasks will include:
- Developing and implementing equitable tours and programs for K-12 and homeschool students that address Florida State Standards and curriculum that connect to the collections and exhibitions of the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art including the Museum of Art, Circus Museum, Ca’d’Zan (the Ringling’s winter home), the grounds and special exhibitions. Direct school tour booking process as managed by Education and Events Program Associate.
- Designing and providing professional development training opportunities for educators both on-site and off-site that link to the collections of The Ringling Museum through appropriate curriculum-based materials and informal learning techniques.
- Providing training for school tour museum docents on appropriate school tour content, equitable teaching approaches, group management techniques, engagement skills and other proficiencies required to lead school tours. In collaboration with the Museum Education and Training Specialist, conduct regular assessments of school tour docents.
- Networking with local, regional, and national scholastic and arts education groups and organizations to raise the profile of The Ringling’s School and Teacher programs and to create opportunities for ongoing collaboration. Maintain active involvement with The Ringling’s IDEA initiatives and strategies.
- In collaboration with Education and other museum staff, develop interpretation for Ringling collections and special exhibitions in the form of visitor guides, gallery interactives, audio/cell tours, digital programming, and other materials as required. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in art education, museum education, or related field. A minimum of two years’ experience in museum education and a minimum of one year of experience in curriculum development.
- Knowledge of adult learning theory.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply the processes, procedures and methods used in museum operations in compliance with applicable governing entities such as the American Association of Museums.
- Ability to understand and interpret educational needs and to develop effective instructional media solutions.
- Ability to prepare, coordinate, and conduct workshops.
- A valid Florida driver’s license or ability to obtain.
Preferred
- Knowledge of and ability to create curriculum based school tours.
- Experience teaching in a museum environment with an emphasis in K-12.
- Ability to support classroom teachers across all disciplines.

Anticipated Salary Range
The anticipated rate of pay will up to and not exceed $45k annually and will be based on the education, skills, and experience of the selected candidate. Find out more about our benefits under the “FSU Total Rewards” section.

This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.

Schedule
The primary working hours for this position are Monday through Friday between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with a one hour meal period, but please note incumbent may be required to work evenings, weekends, or holidays based on the needs of the Ringling.
