POSITION SUMMARY

American Rivers is seeking a fellow to work either in-person or remotely during the academic year with the corporate relations team. The Corporate Relations Fellow will gain direct experience with nonprofit corporate fundraising and program management for National River Cleanup® (NRC). Tasks may include developing new NRC tools and materials, completing corporate research briefs, drafting proposals, writing blogs, developing stories for the website and other publications, analyzing data, engaging in outreach, assisting with event planning and other special projects.

 

The fellow will be invited to all relevant team and department meetings, be provided with professional development and networking opportunities and meet regularly with supervisors to discuss work and seek advice. Upon completion of the fellowship, the candidate will have a solid grounding in corporate fundraising, familiarity with river conservation issues and a portfolio of project outputs.

American Rivers developed this fellowship to help build a pipeline of future nonprofit and conservation leaders. This fellowship is a great opportunity for anyone interested in obtaining valuable skills with a high-performing team while exploring a career in the sector.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Detail-oriented and creative

• Interest in writing, marketing, communications, event planning and fundraising

• Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

• Commitment to American Rivers’ Core Values

• Experience in Adobe Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop and/or Canva a plus

COMPENSATION: The fellowship is from September 2022 to May 2023, or one school year. This fellowship requires a minimum commitment of 16-20 hours per week and maximum of 25 hours per week during regular business hours. This fellowship pays $16.10 per hour. In addition, American Rivers will work with the fellow to obtain academic credit where available.
