Job Title: Social Media Specialist
Reporting: Chief Communications & Government Relations Officer
Status: Full-Time Exempt

Support the mission, vision, and values of onePULSE Foundation (OPF). When appropriate, participate in various after hours and weekend activities that benefit onePULSE, its stakeholders, and the community.
In the aftermath of one of the deadliest mass shootings in modern American history, the community came together to prove that love will overcome fear and hatred. Under this banner, the onePULSE Foundation was created as a 501(c)(3) to memorialize this tragedy and ensure Pulse’s legacy of love, acceptance and hope was never lost. With the help of gracious donors, we continue to prove that We Will Not Let Hate Win.
MISSION & VISION STATEMENT
To create and support a memorial that opens hearts, a museum that opens minds, educational programs that open eyes and legacy scholarships that open doors. Establishing a sanctuary of healing and a beacon of hope by memorializing the lives taken the lives saved and all the lives affected by the Pulse nightclub tragedy of June 12, 2016 – ensuring Pulse’s legacy of love lives on forever.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports and works at the direction of the Chief Communications & Government Relations Officer, with ancillary duties to support all marketing for OPF. Duties include social media management for OPF and its key divisions of Development, Education, Communications, Scholarships, Retail and Sponsorships. The Social Media Specialist will place major emphasis on cultivating, managing, and monitoring OPF’s social media arsenal as well as providing support for the organization across all units of operation in areas of communications, marketing, and social media.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Social Media: Manage all currently used, and new, social media platforms used by the organization (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin, YouTube, etc.). Generate, write and create (graphics/video) original content to drive impressions and engagement metrics an align with monthly, quarterly and annual goals. Manage a content calendar where content will be created in advance.
- Website Management: Assist Marketing in the management and timely updating of OPF’s website, keeping all information current and accessible; write content and compile digital photos for use on website and OPF social media arsenal; possess strong SEO skills in optimizing OPF messaging across all social media platforms.
- Media/Messaging: Assist in the logistics of all earned media opportunities, including writing, editing, and publishing press releases to media contacts after the approval of the Executive Director has been received.
- Content Library: Create and manage a video, graphics and video library.
- Reporting: Provide monthly social media reports, preferably full digital marketing reports including Google analytics for the website, eMails and eNewsletter campaigns.
- Events: Manage and coordinate event logistics for key donor events throughout the year, including the planning, execution and “day of” needs per event (i.e. A/V, vendor requests, floor plan, decoration, etc.); create, distribute and review event plan with staff; assist Development with campaign-related events, donor-sponsored events, and Stakeholder events; serve on the internal event team for OPF’s annual Remembrance week in June and collaborate with OPF divisions for event planning, material purchasing and organization of supplies to include the recruitment and management of volunteers.
- OPF Campaigns: Assist in the preparation of materials for OPF special event campaigns. Work with Development team to create video and distribution for the purpose of amplifying donor support on OPF social media platforms.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree or a minimum of two years related industry experience and/or externships, broad exposure to electronic communications, working with social media and or/equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience Requirements:
At least two- to three-years’ experience in marketing or communications at a nonprofit organization is preferred, but not required. Experience managing social media messaging as lead or key member of a core team, preferred.

Knowledge/Skills:
Strong oral and written communication skills, customer relations skills, creative problem-solving skills, good judgment. Strong organizational and group leadership skills. Ability to write content for publication across agencies that confirm to prescribed style and format. Experience with LGBTQ+ causes a plus.
Technology Requirements:
Must be proficient in all Social Media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram. Excels in the full Adobe Suite specifically Photoshop and Illustrator. Must be a Final Cut Pro loyalist and well versed in social tools such as Canva.
Contact:
Internal: Communicate with all levels of the organization to exchange information and collect information, coordinate projects, and solve problems.
External: Communicate with volunteers, community leaders, corporate partners, media, trade associates, vendors, other local, regional, and national like-minded organizations in the LGBTQ+ space.
Working Conditions:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move.
