Camp Mak-A-Dream serves children and families impacted by cancer. We aim to empower survivors and their families to live with and beyond cancer through life-changing Montana experiences where they strengthen life skills, gain resilience, and develop lasting relationships. It is not required to have previous experience working with cancer survivors to serve on our staff.
Summer Staff positions available:
Cabin Leaders: who supervise and guide campers throughout the week. We hire two male and two female cabin leaders for the summer. Cabin leaders live and sleep in the cabins and assist in the training and supervision of weekly cabin volunteers. Their primary responsibility is to foster a safe and supportive environment for the campers and volunteers in their cabin.
Program Team Specialists: we hire a team of 10 program specialists who lead specific program activity areas (listed below) and collaborate as a team to create and facilitate campus wide events.
Activities and Ropes Course Specialists: In addition to overall camp program planning, they facilitate our climbing wall, high ropes course, and zipline. They also take lead in planning and facilitating activities throughout the camp week such as archery, field games, hikes and more!
Horse Program Specialist: In addition to overall camp program planning, they assist in leading the horse program including planning activities, teaching campers to ride, caring for the horses, and adapting activities to ensure age appropriateness and inclusivity. Previous experience riding and/or caring for horses required.
Waterfront Specialist: In addition to overall camp program planning, they serve as lead lifeguards and ensure a safe and fun experience at the pool. Waterfront Specialists must have a current lifeguard certification (camp will pay for a certification course in certain circumstances).
Photo and Media Specialist: In addition to overall camp program planning, they document each week through pictures and videos, assist in maintaining Camp’s social media accounts, and coordinate programming for campers to take photos and learn more about media.
Art Specialist: In addition to overall camp program planning, they plan and facilitate art programming. Prepare for paint stains, tie dyed hands, and plenty of creativity and fun!
