The Grants and Development Coordinator will assist LEO’s Chief Program Officer with developing fundraising strategies, identifying funding priorities and opportunities and composing and editing funding applications. The member will support LEO’s development by collaborating with other VISTA members to evaluate our current program efforts and media presence for context and effectiveness and aid in building coherent and culturally competent community engagement programming.
Responsibilities:
– Communicate with potential donors to determine viable fundraising options
– Develop and present fundraising strategies to LEO’s Chief Program Officer and Fellow VISTAs
– Collaborate with Chief Program Officer, Program Coordinator, and fellow VISTA members to evaluate strengths and areas of improvement in programs and media presence
– Learn grant searching and proposal writing skills and apply them in composing and editing funding applications
The ideal candidate will possess:
– Superior writing skills
– Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;
– Strong work ethic and commitment to producing high-quality projects
– Excellent interpersonal strengths with a desire to build relationships among staff, clients, and donors;
– Exceptional critical and creative thinking skills to assist team in identifying new development goals
– Ability to multi-task while managing a workload in a fast-paced, changing, and flexible environment;
– Experience working with diverse collaborators with cultural competency in mind, or a strong willingness to learn and grow in these areas
– Enthusiasm for increasing productivity and improving methods, approaches, and systems;
-Be willing to work bi weekly night and weekend events
– Commitment to continuous learning and professional development within a collaborative work space
– Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is a plus
– Proficiency in Spanish is a plus

VISTA Member Benefits:

– $1,276.52 bi-weekly living allowance; LEO provides an additional $500 monthly rent stipend; $6,895 Segal Education Award after completion of a full-year of service*

- Pay the cost of attending a qualified institution of higher education
- Or, the member can choose an end of service cash stipend, approximately $1,800 for a full year of service, instead of the Segal award.
