Internship Opportunities – Revenue Operations (Summer/Fall 2024)

Universal Destinations & Experiences Internship Program: 

This job posting advertises opportunities for both Summer and Fall 2024 semesters. Candidates will indicate which semester they are interested within the application.

Internship – Culinary Operations 

JOB SUMMARY: Intern will work closely with senior management, administrators, and executives to get a 360-degree view of culinary operations within Universal Orlando Resort. This unique role will report directly to an Executive Chef, which will give the student a high level of exposure in an intern capacity. The purpose is to allow students the ability to be hands-on and see the higher-level strategy behind operations that may take years in the field to gain exposure to. This role will be fast paced and full of networking and project management opportunities.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works alongside the culinary operations management, and executive team to complete daily assignments and long-term projects focused on three areas: Culinary Creativity, Menu Development, Restaurant Operations.
  • Completes assigned specific projects and impacts associated KPl’s (Key Performance Indicators) during their assignment.
  • Completes hands-on training in full service, quick service, and fast casual dining locations within Food & Beverage to gain a holistic view of large-scale theme park operations.
  • Researches and develops a marquee event dish and seasonal appetizer and entrée for a selected venue.
  • Presents vision and dishes to the VP of Culinary and the Executive Chef Team.
  • Partners with other departments such as Human Resources, Finance, Food Equipment Techs, and many more to successfully complete projects.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: 

  • In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution with current class standing of Sophomore or above.
  • Recent graduates will not be eligible for this program.
  • Minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA is required. 
  • An official transcript may be required upon request. 
  • Preferred majors include: Culinary Arts.

Preferable skills for success in role include but not limited to:

  • Basic knife skills preferred.

Internship – Food & Beverage, Operations 

JOB SUMMARY: Interns will work alongside managers, administrators, culinary professionals, and executives to get a 360°-picture of the hospitality industry within both Universal Orlando Resort parks and CityWalk. There will be a heavy focus on food & beverage, theme park management, and collaboration between various other departments to successfully run an operation. This unique role will report directly to a revenue operations manager, which will give the student a high level of exposure in an intern capacity. The purpose is to allow students the ability to be hands-on and see the higher-level strategy behind operations that may take years in the field to gain exposure to. This role will work side by side with various leaders and hourly team members to gain knowledge of many different positions in the industry. This role will be fast-paced and full of networking and project management opportunities.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works alongside managers and hourly team members producing and coordinating projects that are relevant to the current needs of the business.
  • Prioritizes time management and networking efforts to complete project tasks. 
  • Completes hands-on training within Food & Beverage to gain a wholistic view of large-scale theme park revenue operations.
  • Conducts field work at several locations throughout the Universal Orlando Resort Parks & CityWalk supporting guests, team members, and financial performance. 
  • Attends classes, seminars, and meetings with managers and executives. 
  • Partners with other departments such as Human Resources, Finance, Entertainment and Sales & Marketing to successfully complete assigned projects.
  • Produces several deliverables during internship duration that will be team member and guest facing.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Internship – Food & Beverage, Graphic Design 

JOB SUMMARY: The intern will work closely with the Food & Beverage management team and key collaborators to produce work that will support the operation. This internship will give students hands on access to and training with graphic design software, producing their own projects, and supporting other large-scale projects that are already in development for the department that typically takes years in the field to gain exposure to. This role is situated in a fast-paced environment and will be full of networking opportunities and high impact projects.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists management team in creating both long and short-form content. 
  • Produces project deliverables such as menus and signages, brand books, documentation of brand standards, and communication content. 
  • Supports the implementation of technology to enhance processes. 
  • Aligns each project with the goal of positively affecting guest satisfaction, team member satisfaction, and financial return for the department. 
  • Creates measurable Key Performance Indicators for tasks. 
  • Partners with many departments including Universal Creative Placemaking, Marketing, Finance, and Entertainment to achieve goals.

Internship – Merchandise Operations

JOB SUMMARY: Intern will learn all aspects of the Merchandise operation including retail, carnival style games, outdoor carts, candy stores, and warehouse operations.  Intern will learn to understand all P&L categories, budgetary expenditures, and the three-legged stool. By learning to provide a positive work experience and cultivate working relationships, Intern will gain valuable leadership experience. 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in location operations, including opening and closing procedures. 
  • Manages locations in cleanliness, merchandising, and visual standards.
  • Understands and implements Standard Operating Procedures and policies in talent management.
  • Manages location P&L including labor, non-labor, and cost of goods.
  • Understands the inventory process including buying, shipping, warehouse, and relieving inventory. 
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
