Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Arts: Animation Track
The BFA in Digital Arts: Animation Track emphasizes concepts and technical practices essential to the production of 2D and 3D computer animation and new media. Students will explore the role of animation and new media within contemporary culture, its potential for artistic output, and creative storytelling. Students graduating from this track will seek careers in animation, motion graphics, Film/TV, and related fields. This track offers an intensive course of study in animation, storytelling, character design, video production, and new media.

- Fall deadline is February 1st – department decisions go out at the beginning of March.

Portfolio Requirements -20 Artworks:
The Department of Art + Art History is in the process of switching portfolio services over to Slideroom Summer 23.
- Images must be .jpg at the highest available quality.
- Must be under 8 MB each.
- Videos: excerpts or preferably complete works (max. 10 minutes total runtime).
- Videos should be uploaded and hosted on YouTube as an ‘unlisted’ video and shared through url link.
- Audio: excerpts or preferably complete works submitted as .mp3 (max. 10 minutes total runtime).
- Each individual file should be less than 30 MB.
All artworks must include the following label information:
- Title
- Dimensions / Duration (video/audio files)
- Medium
- Date Produced
- Notes and supporting text may be included within the “Additional Notes” textbox.
Important Information: Eligibility and Submitting BFA Portfolio
Current FIU Students interested in switching over into one of the BFA degree options must be below 75 credits earned and must have already completed the four foundations course requirements. Students must have completed the four foundations course requirements with a minimum GPA of 2.75 as per the BFA Academic Standards.

Those that have not completed the foundation courses and/or did not meet the BFA Academic Standards GPA requirement are not eligible to attempt switching into the BFA.
New incoming Transfer applicants without these foundation courses, including those who completed the four courses but failed to meet the Academic Standard of 2.75 GPA - are not be eligible for the BFA.
