WORK TABLE(AU)
 

Thursday, January 18, 2024, 6:30 PM, in-person. Last chance to visit the Washington Gallery during the Miami Beach Culture Crawl for Work Table(au), an architectural exhibition presenting the recent work of Associate Professor Jason R. Chandler, FAIA. Ten projects are displayed on a single “work” table 3-feet-wide by 33 feet long. Each project is represented with design and working drawings, photographs, renderings, and models. Seen in its totality, this collection represents a carefully choreographed exhibition of Professor Chandler’s professional research and his enormous contributions to enhancing the reputation of FIU. CHAD OPPENHEIM NAMED 2023 LAUREATE OF THE AMERICAN PRIZE FOR ARCHITECTURE
 

Last month, Miami-based architect and urban planner Chad Oppenheim, an esteemed member of the MBUS Industry Partnership Board, was honored as the 2023 Laureate of The American Prize for Architecture. Acknowledged globally as the highest accolade for architecture in the United States, Oppenheim’s recognition is a testament to his expansive portfolio spanning cultural, hospitality, residential, and urban planning projects across the globe. Not only a visionary architect, but Oppenheim also serves as a mentor to many MBUS LEADS participants, showcasing his commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders in architecture and urban planning.

INSTALLATIONS FOR POLLINATORS
 

Recently, through graduate seminar and design studio and led by Associate Professor Eric Goldemberg, Master of Architecture candidates collaborated on projects for The Kampong, a lush nine-acre landscape in Coconut Grove, part of the National Tropical Botanical Garden. Divided into eight groups, students crafted sustainable structures aimed at fostering human engagement with the garden’s rich biodiversity. From butterfly-inspired havens to porous compost-holding structures, each project became a unique exploration of form, function, and ecological harmony.
