ARC 5362 Graduate Design 9: Sustainability Studio
A. Gray Read and Thomas Spiegelhalter, Coordinators
This required studio focuses on developing strategies for advanced parametric-algorithmic green building and cloud service modeling for carbon neutrality and climate change mitigation, which engages the landscape, sea level rise, and the infrastructures of the city. The studio is sometimes coordinated with the Department of Landscape Architecture and includes lectures on landscape topics as well as in-class workshops. A climate sensitive design project challenges students to envision dynamically changing landscapes in the context of society’s interaction with the built elements of urban life in a net-zero-fossil energy or carbon neutral, sustainable metropolitan Miami/ Miami Beach.
