Students Say

I chose to pursue a degree in communication since I’m inspired by the power of storytelling to connect people, shift perceptions, and spark action. Communication is where strategy meets creativity, a space where logic blends with imagination and gives a voice to ideas that truly matter. It’s not just a field to study, it’s a way to create meaning, inspire change, and leave a lasting impact through every message I craft.

– Claudia Davila Santa Cruz

I’ve always been drawn to communications degrees because it’s both a skill and an art. I’ve admired how the right words, delivered in the right way, can inspire, move or connect people. That ability to evoke emotions is what inspired me to pursue my degree.

– Thalia Centeno

The Public Relations, Advertising, and Applied Communication (PRAAC) degree had the perfect specialization/concentration to pursue a career in HR!

– John Boris

I’ve always been fascinated by how advertising connects people and shapes the way we see brands and the world around us. That interest inspired me to pursue a degree in communication. I’ve always admired how creative teams bring ideas to life and how a single campaign can reach audiences across the globe. When I started studying Public Relations, Advertising, and Applied Communication (PRAAC), I realized how much I enjoyed learning about the strategy and creativity that go into advertising.

Through my classes at FIU, I’ve had the chance to explore different parts of the field, from campaign planning to media strategy and creative development. Each course has helped me understand how powerful communication can be when done with purpose and creativity. My goal is to one day work at an advertising agency and working on a variety of campaigns. Studying communication has shown me that this field is where my passion and future come together.
