The art of communicating with impact and style requires preparation, practice, and polish. The Communication Studio is an invaluable resource for members of the FIU family including students, faculty, and staff.

The Communication Studio is an invaluable resource for the FIU community, including students, faculty, and staff, as well as the local community, including organizations, businesses, and FIU alumni.

Does the thought of speaking in public terrify you? Do you know how to put together an effective and memorable PowerPoint or Prezi presentation? Are you preparing for an interview for the perfect internship or job? Do you have to give a toast at your cousin’s wedding reception?

Our mission is to provide you with constructive feedback and guidance to assist you in engaging in effective communication.

There is a place on campus where you can get professional coaching to improve your public speaking, presentation, and interview skills. That place is here, at the Communication Studio.

Step by Step Instruction

How to make a general appointment?

Please follow the steps below to schedule an appointment in the Communication Studio. If you have an issues making an appointment, please contact the Studio by phone or email for assistance.

Step 1: log into your account by clicking the button “Make an Appointment” located at https://fiu.mywconline.com. Please Note: Students can make an account for the studio using this same link.

Step 2: Once logged in, go to the date that you are planning to schedule your appointment for by clicking the calendar.

Step 3: Select the time you would like to make an appointment for by clicking the box underneath.

  • Beware of the legend.
    • Blue means there is already an appointment scheduled at this time
    • Black means that time is unavailable for appointments
    • White means this time is available

Step 4: After selecting the time, please fill out the questions asked in the form. Make sure to answer them as correctly as possible as they help us to provide you with the best presentation guidance.

Step 5: Make sure to click the “Save Appointment” button

  • You will receive a confirmation email stating you have successfully made an appointment

Step 6: Show up to your appointment on the time you scheduled with needed materials. Visual aids are welcomed.

How to make a video submission appointment?

Video Submission appointments are now available at the Communication Studio. Video submission, allows for students to upload a video into the server for a studio coordinator to view and provide feedback.

However, for video submissions please allow 24 hours for an evaluation to be delivered.

The process to make a video submission appointment at the Communication Studio is rather simple, all you have to do is follow the steps listed below:

Step 1: log into your account by clicking the button “Make an Appointment” located at www.communicate.fiu.edu.  Please Note: Students can make an account for the studio using this same link.

Step 2: Once logged in, go to the date that you are planning to schedule your appointment for by clicking the calendar.

Step 3: Select the time you would like to make an appointment for by clicking the box underneath.

  • When answering the questions be sure to select “video submission” as type of appointment.
  • Select the type of file link you will be posting under the appropriate section. While other options are accepted, an unlisted YouTube link is highly recommended.
  • Post link in the appropriate box by the time of the appointment. Links posted after this time are subject to a longer wait in receiving feedback.
  • Please Note: The link that you post will NOT post as a hyperlink or embedded video. As long as you paste the link into the appropriate section we will be able to evaluate your presentation. If there are any concerns with your video link that we may have at the studio, we will contact you through email or phone.

Step 5: Make sure to click the “Save Appointment” button

  • You will receive a confirmation email stating you have successfully made an appointment

Step 6: Check your email for a response from a Studio Staff or from WCOnline, delivering your evaluation. Please allow 24 hours after your appointment time before contacting the studio with concerns regarding evaluation.
