Steven Cruz, MPA

Steven Cruz is a recognized leader in digital communications and operations. A bilingual strategic communications, public affairs and digital media expert, Steven is a frequent panelist and commentator for both English- and Spanish-language outlets, and was featured as one of the top 25 millennials in American politics and broadcasting. Prior to going into private consulting practice, Steven directed digital strategy at RBB Communications (Miami, FL), and Red Edge LLC (Washington, DC). Cruz holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations with a regional concentration in Latin America from FIU and a Master of Public Administration with concentrations in Crisis Management and Federal Policy from The George Washington University.

Steven has held a number of volunteer leadership positions and also remains a committed member of the FIU community– recently endowing the Steven Cruz Institute for Society, Media + Technology to advance the public’s understanding of science and its impact on policy-making and societal well-being. He is particularly interested in how the media influences people’s understanding of critical social issues, and how to use communication technology to facilitate dialogue between people with different viewpoints for the greater good.
