Dean’s Annual Report
Message from the Dean

Dear CARTA Community,
The College of Communication, Architecture + The Arts (CARTA) continues to lead through innovation, creativity, teaching, and scholarship. Each year, our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and partners demonstrate what it means to be part of Miami’s only public research university dedicated to shaping the cultural, communication, and creative economies of the future. As we finalize the 2025-26 CARTA Annual Report, we are excited to reflect on another extraordinary year of #CARTACreativeForcesAtWork.
Throughout the past academic year, our College has continued to embrace a “learn by doing” philosophy that empowers students through hands-on experiences, interdisciplinary collaboration, and engagement with industry and community partners. These opportunities not only prepare our students for successful careers, but also position them to make meaningful contributions locally, nationally, and globally.
Across our disciplines, CARTA continues to spark dialogue, inspire creativity, and advance innovative thinking. Through design, communication, visual arts, performing arts, emerging technologies, and scholarship, we are exploring new ways to connect people, strengthen communities, and shape a more resilient and forward-thinking future.
From prestigious awards and fellowships to impactful research, performances, exhibitions, publications, and community partnerships, our students, faculty, and alumni continue to distinguish themselves across South Florida and around the world. Their achievements exemplify the spirit of Florida International University as Forward-Thinking, Innovative, and Unstoppable.
As we prepare to launch the 2025-26 CARTA Annual Report webpage, we look forward to sharing highlights from our academic units, centers, institutes, and innovation hubs, along with key accomplishments and success metrics from across the College. These stories and achievements reflect the strength of our community and our ongoing commitment to excellence, opportunity, and impact.
Thank you for your continued support and belief in our mission — to prepare leaders with a global perspective who will drive the information, innovation, and cultural economies of South Florida and beyond.
In the Spirit of Blue + Gold,
Brian
