Dean’s Anual Report

Dear CARTA Community,

The College of Communication, Architecture + The Arts (CARTA) continues to be at the forefront of excellence in innovation, creativity, teaching, and scholarship. Over the years, we have been able to help students begin to craft their vision through unique learning experience within Miami’s only public research university. 2024 was no exception. It was truly a year that showed #CARTACreativeForcesAtWork and it was underscored by our College’s #14 ranking at the Most Innovative College – U.S. Public by the World University Rankings for Innovation.

Our “learn by doing” philosophy has been instrumental in providing students with hands-on experiences that prepare them for successful careers in their respective fields. Through partnerships with industry leaders and community organizations, our students have gained invaluable real-world experience, bridging the gap between academia and practice.

Each of the disciplines housed in CARTA informs the way we think, interact, and relate with each other. These disciplines make us “human” in every sense of the word. CARTA inspires and feeds creativity, problem-solving skills, and resiliency. Sparking dialogue through our design, visual and performing arts, and communication. Devising ways to improve the world for the next generation.

From research publications, to fellowships, to awards, our students, faculty, and alumni shined locally and internationally. These endeavors not only enhance their academic and professional growth but also benefit all the communities we serve. Not to mention, they continue to advance our Florida International University as Forward-Thinking, Innovative, and Unstoppable.

It is with this in mind that I’m pleased to share the launch of the 2024 CARTA Annual Report webpage. Here, you will find highlights from our academic units, centers and innovation hubs, as well as key success metrics. I hope you see these as confidence indicators that we take your support and partnership very seriously.
