With so many different ads out there only a few really stand out and embed themselves in your head. One of the ads that has impressed me in the last few months has been the Vick’s DayQuil commercial featuring moms.

The commercial features a mom asking for the day off to, what seems like the viewer, her boss. However, it turns out to be her daughter. Though it seems obvious, I have never realized that being a mom is the one job you can never call in sick for, which seems to be the insight for this ad. What I love about this insight is that it is so simple and, like all insight, true. If you call out sick from your job there are no dire consequences. However, if you’re a mom, you can’t not “show up for work” because your small child is dependent on you completely and needs you every hour of the day.
