Master of Science, Global Strategic Communications

FIU’s Master of Science in Mass Communication with a focus on Global Strategic Communications (GSC) is offered both on-campus and fully online.

With a dual focus on communication management and digital communication, the GSC curriculum reflects the evolving global marketplace, providing an international perspective on such topics as reputation management, branding, social media, crisis communication, professional ethics, among others. Students are exposed to an audience-focused, data driven approach to communicating with publics.

The School of Communication + Journalism has a rich history of award-winning faculty, including top-notch media professionals and Fulbright scholars.

This program gives students a global perspective in strategic communications to help them prepare for advancement in advertising, public relations, and integrated communications careers. The management track provides knowledge and understanding for addressing global, national, and local audiences and communication issues.

The program can be completed on-campus or fully online.

Take classes in traditional, face-to-face format with world-class faculty. Students learn to analyze organizations’ business problems and recommend communications solutions using an array of communications strategies.

Students are required to complete 30 hours and can be completed in 16 months. New students are accepted for Fall or Spring start only. Courses are 3 credits each and offered in Biscayne Bay Campus. Apply Now

The program culminates in a Professional Project during the final semester. Graduate students enrolled develop a professional project on a campaign-type project, or a research paper submitted to the graduate committee as a requirement for graduation. Master of Science in Communication- Global Strategic Communications
Designed for current FIU students in all majors who want to get a head start on their Graduate degree while completing their Bachelor’s degree. Students interested in learning if the 4 +1 program is right for them should reach out to the School of Communication + Journalism for more information. Students already majoring in Communication or Communication Arts tracks should contact their current advisor to see if this is a good option for them. Current FIU students who are not in any of the current Communication or Communication Arts tracks should contact the Advising Office to schedule an appointment: 305/919-5625 or 305/348-1255.
