We are looking for a creative individual to join and be a part of our team as an Interior Designer Assistant. Interns will assist the Interior Designer and gain experience at different phases of projects by utilizing their skills and/or hand sketching to produce working and presentation drawings.
The responsibilities of the Assistant will also include meeting directly with clients, creating drawings, designs, layouts, and complying with industry regulations.
To be successful you should have excellent technical skills and be proficient in computer, possess an excellent communication and customer service skills, and should have the creativity to shape innovative, unique designs.
For us, the most important thing we ask is to be truthful, organized and professional.
ROLES:
- Meeting with client to discuss the design requirements assessing their preferences and needs for new constructions, alterations, or repairs
- Gathering the necessary measurements, dimensions, and other routine calculations for design layouts.
- Providing clients with suitable design recommendations based on factors such as budgets, the building site, and recent trends.
- Using 3-D and/or CAD manual drawings techniques to produce architectural plans for management and client approval. (devise a plan and rough drafts of the design, with the help of interior design software, until approved by clients).
- Designs based on comments and reviews from management.
- Interacting with our interior designer and architect to exchange ideas and provide support.
- Ensuring all vital information and documentation is recorded and maintained up-to-date.
- Ensuring that all layouts and blueprints are compliant with industry codes and legal standards.
- Presenting design concepts and take detailed notes to address customers requests.
- Maintain/organize project files, schedules, and specifications.
- Assist in design of baths, kitchen, or entire house and material selection.
- Specify materials, such as lighting, wall finishes, flooring, cabinets, and plumbing fixtures.
- Create a timeline for the interior design project and estimate project costs.
- Place orders for materials and oversee the installation of the design elements
- Oversee construction and coordinate with general building contractors to implement the plans and specifications for the project
- Visit the site after the project is complete, to ensure that the client is satisfied.
- Deal with the contractors and manage contracts.
- Visit the job sites to make sure that the construction meets the schedule and design.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- By creating quotes and projects, the intern will improve upon their critical thinking skills , as evidenced by producing thorough and accurate reports on a weekly basis.
- The intern will develop communication skills by managing communication with clients.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, interest or currently enrolled college student working toward obtaining a degree in interior design.
- Strong conceptual, communication and ability to work effectively with others, organizational skills.
- General acknowledge of material and building finish product.
- Familiarity with Photoshop, AUTOCAD, Microsoft Words.
- Knowledge in tiles, layout, needs, material, and quality.
- Excellent technical skills.
- Strong creative design and time management skill.
- Good customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Good math skills.
- Valid Driver License
