Technical Designer Intermediate (full-time; multiple openings)
Technical Designer(s) Intermediate needed in New York, NY to work under the direct supervision of the licensed architect to produce technical and contract documentation for construction of project. Participate in construction administration, evaluate bids, conduct site visits, address technical issues. Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives. Utilize hand and 3D software renderings to communicate design concepts. Test fits and space planning using Revit and Enscape for 150,000 sq ft commercial interiors project which includes amenities (café, gym, work lounges) and co-working space. Work on schematic design through construction administration on recording studios and listening space that require acoustically isolated construction. Coordinate from CD to CA, all of the millwork and general construction for a performance space. Leading documentation and construction administration for 3 floors of prebuilds. This included coordination with the general contractor, conducting multiple site visits, review of submittals, RFIs and punchlisting. Research and select finishes and plumbing fixtures that meet LEED accreditation guidelines. Restroom and ADA/ code coordination. Prepare RCP studies to review with clients and consultants for feasibility and implementation.
Modular space planning for offices, conference and huddle rooms. Present 3D studies in Enscape and post-production in Photoshop. Coordinate with brand design team on wayfinding and graphic application.
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Architecture or related field, plus three (3) years of design experience with the all of the following:
- Coordinated the process of getting approval for a place of assembly; includes researching and reviewing code, producing documentation to be submitted to DOB;
- Worked on commercial projects from schematic design through construction administration;
- Produced construction drawings in Revit and AutoCAD;
- Prepared presentations in InDesign to share with client;
- Coordination with consultants (MEP, Lighting, Structural, Acoustical); AND
- Produced renderings in Rhino, V-Ray and Photoshop.
All experience may be acquired concurrently. Incidental telecommuting permitted.
