As an Architectural Planning Summer Associate Intern, you’ll gain insight into how we create and execute on many challenges that come with being one of top retailers in the U.S. This experiential internship opportunity will give you access to develop industry-related knowledge and skills in a professional environment, network with Best Buy employees, and explore various career paths.
This internship will be available June to August 2023. It is a hybrid role, meaning you must be located within a drivable distance to our corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota. You will be asked to come into the office 2-3 days per week.
What you’ll do
- Create and maintain necessary store/site specific documentation that is accurate, reliable, and code compliant and clearly communicate the information inherent in those documents quickly to those that need it. Develop. Draw. Deploy
- House the most cost effective, and durable building specifications, and clear and effective construction documents that allow for the most efficient roll out of all Store Experience and Global Properties programs across BBY’s Real Estate Portfolio
- Understand and advocate on behalf of BBY and its customers for any and all standards/requirements/entitlements/authorizations related to any building project
- Define project criteria and building standards and specifications, maintain and update prototype documentation and teach out scope
- Assist the Prototype Manager or Category and Rep Specialists in the following areas:
- Value Engineering efforts with Architecture and Procurement
- Building Standards Meeting and Logs
- Criteria development related to permitting and architectural sheet
- Research and development of new global prototype details
- Prototype updates for F-sheets
- Creating criteria for cross functional partners and internal teams
- Project planning for category resets
- Quality redline support
Basic Qualifications
- Must be pursuing a bootcamp, certificate, associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university majoring in Architecture, Interior Design, or other related fields, graduating between fall 2023 and spring 2026
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc., will not be considered)
- Basic AutoCAD knowledge
- Architecture, Electrical Engineer, Interior Design, or Space Planning background
