About the Project:
The ReadMoveTalk Adventure Hubs (RMT Adventure Hubs) are innovative centers designed to promote health and wellness within communities with significant Hispanic populations. These hubs provide a space for immersive outdoor reading adventures, environmental education, interactive resources, and health-related dialogues. The goal is to enhance reading proficiency, support balanced exercise regimes, and improve mental well-being while demonstrating the sustainability of preventative health services to reduce health disparities.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and creative Interior Designer Intern to assist in designing and optimizing the layout of the RMT Adventure Hubs. The intern will work closely with a team to create functional, engaging, and culturally relevant interior spaces that support the hub’s educational and health promotion activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in Space Planning: Contribute to designing layouts that optimize space usage for reading adventures, educational activities, and interactive resources.
- Develop Design Concepts: Support the creation of design concepts and visual representations that align with the hub’s mission and community needs.
- Material Selection: Help select appropriate materials, furnishings, and finishes that reflect the cultural and environmental context of the hubs.
- Technical Drawings: Aid in the preparation of floor plans, elevations, and other technical drawings.
- Coordinate with Stakeholders: Work with contractors, vendors, and community members to ensure design implementation meets project specifications.
- Design Adaptation: Assist in adapting design solutions based on feedback and practical considerations during the installation process.
- Ensure Compliance: Help ensure that designs meet safety regulations and accessibility standards.
Qualifications:
- Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Environmental Design, or a related field.
- Skills: Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Creativity: Strong creative skills with the ability to think innovatively and design engaging, functional spaces.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with team members and stakeholders.
- Detail-Oriented: Attention to detail in design work and technical documentation.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Understanding and respect for cultural diversity and community-specific needs.
