Position Description:

Assisting with media relations, digital media engagement, writing, and communications planning in English and Spanish. Researching, drafting, editing, and distributing communications products and other strategic communications material. Communicating with branch chiefs, staff officers, and division leadership to provide status of assignments. Developing written responses to queries related to assigned disasters or states. Notifying community groups of decisions and public announcements or other high-profile information relevant to their work. Analyzing online discussion and summarizing key points in a concise report. Identifying and elevating hot issues or trends to the appropriate program office or leadership. Ensuring that information on websites are updated and optimized for visitors. Developing social media strategy and content. Provides key communications to communities and develops relationships with community leaders. Produces creative graphic designs to communicate forest events. Provides critical support for the grand re-opening of El Yunque’s El Portal (Puerto Rico’s most visited visitor center).

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s and/or graduate degree in Communications

Native Spanish Speaker, graphic design, social media

*This is a 1099 position. Persons paid on a 1099 basis are independent contractors and are self-employed.
